Schools Out-reach Programme

Make sure the day works for you!

Nicolas Halliday at school reading 2Children will get so much more out of the day if they prepare in advance. This promotes interaction with the Reader, which serves to re-enforce the Safety messages in the Hari books. Children then arrive prepared for ‘Spot the Hazards’ and come armed with Questions for the Reader, which are related to their school work. Why not get the Children to colour in pictures from HarisWorld.com and we can then judge these at the Readings and present the winners with a small prize - a Hari Bookmark perhaps. Class interaction, question time and judging colouring competitions make the Readings so much more fun for the children and this can be promoted by giving them the opportunity to look into Hari's World before the visit! Here are some ideas:

Visit Hari's World! In IT lessons take the children to www.HarisWorld.com where they can familiarise themselves with the Hari Child Safety Awareness Concept. Encourage children and parents to visit www.HarisWorld.com where they can play Safety-related games and learn about Safety Awareness in a fun, exciting and imaginative way.

Talk Safety! An excellent way to familiarise children with Hari's World is to have a Safety lesson prior to the visit. Talking about Safety in the Home, on the Road, at the Beach etc gets children thinking about 'Playing Safe, Not Sorry!' All the better if the visit coincides with coursework on Safety linked to the schools curriculum!

Let Everyone Know!

  • Put Hari posters around the school as provided in your Hari Reading Information Pack.
  • Announce the Hari visit in school assembly.
  • Feature the visit as an upcoming event in the school newsletter.

Prize Competitions: A great way to get children excited about the Hari Reading is to hold an Art competition prior to the visit. You can use the print and colour pages available at www.HarisWorld.com. We would be happy to judge the competition on the day and present the winners with a small prize - a Hari Bookmark perhaps.
